There’s something about growing older that makes you look back with clearer eyes. You start remembering the moments that shaped you, the mistakes that humbled you, the late nights that almost took you out, and the grace that brought you home.

This new track with my brother Cam Pain, “Way Back When,” is exactly that.

A reflection.

A testimony.

A reminder.

It’s for the days we can’t get back — the barefoot summers, the creek-bed memories, the backyard freedom, and the dirt-road halos we didn’t even know we had. Life felt simple back then. Easy. Pure.

But somewhere down that road, my path dimmed.

The porch light flickered.

And I found myself lost in the smoke, soaked in the liquor, chasing the wrong kind of high.

Friday nights turned into Saturday sin, over and over again.

I had big dreams while raising my children, but I was drowning in that late-night life.

Until the Lord grabbed hold of me.

I reached for Him — and He met me right where I was.

That’s when everything changed.

I turned the page.

Like dusk to dawn.

And now I give Him praise in every song, because He pulled me out of a place I should’ve never survived.

This song is more than music.

It’s a marker.

A milepost showing where I’ve been, what God has done, and where I’m headed.

And one day — it won’t be long — we’ll see Him again.

So while we’re still here, let’s honor every moment.

Let’s take it way back when… and be grateful for how far God has carried us.

Presave “Way Back When” now and be the first to hear our full story when it drops:

Thank y’all for ridin’ with me, for growing with me, and for letting me share my heart through these songs
